Blend It Right is an informational guide that was created through a graphic design course in hopes of educating people in smoothie making.
INTENTION STATEMENT
The piece, Blend It Right: Crafting the Perfect Smoothie is an informational guide for beginners who are interested in smoothie making. The goal of this project was to create an inviting and visually appealing design that educates and informs people. After analyzing this piece, the end user should become more familiar with the process and feel confident in supporting their diet with healthy and fresh ingredients.
END DESIGN
The final result of this infographic aimed to incorporate around 100 pieces of information. The challenge for me throughout this process was deciding how I wanted to lay everything out while incorporating so much information. I did not want to overload my user with piles of information, as this would make them lose interest or could be overwhelming. With this in mind, I decided to keep line lengths short and simplified so they understand the overarching idea in a visually appealing and engaging way.

Direction Sketching
During this phase, I started by sketching three different layouts that fit the theme of smoothie-making. Some were more grid-focused, and some were more organic. Ultimately, I went with the organic route as I wanted this to feel fun and flowy, given the topic. I decided to move forward with sketch 3 as my direction, but added to the design to give a more realistic version of what the final design would look like.
Visual Design System
The overall aesthetic of this design is organic, fruit-centered, and handmade. For color, I envisioned a beige background as I wanted the fruits to be the center focal point of the piece. Supporting colors in the design are bright and make for a fun pop throughout. For typography, I decided to use two typefaces; the primary typeface is known for being friendly and smooth, which pairs well with the secondary typeface, as this is used for naming ingredients and recipes. This type gives a nice handwritten feel, which ties back into my theme.
End Design
The final design consists of an 18×24 in. visual used to educate people on smoothie making. The infographic covers ingredients, nutritional benefits, prepping tips, superfoods, fun facts, ratios, hydration pointers, and easy recipes to follow. The intent for this design is to be seen within a classroom setting specially a health + nutritional classroom, where students would be able to reference this for personal use.
